Nutella Mug Cake

We're still on Mug Cake week!

This was one of my favorites. And I don't even like Nutella. Honestly, I've tried. The kids love the stuff, Peanut Butter and Nutella sandwiches, spread on a Ritz cracker, dip fruit in it. The only reason I ever even bought a jar of the stuff is because my sister, years ago, told me there was less sugar in it than jelly. Any time I can cut back on the sugar and still have then think it's a treat, I'm for it.

But being a true chocolate lover, Nutella is not it. That being said, I loved this mug cake. I fought the kids for it. A rich chocolate taste, moist, and with a dollop of fresh whipped cream on top...

This one is definitely a keeper.

Nutella Mug Cake
from Family Kitchen

4 tablespoons self rising flour
4 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 egg
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
3 tablespoons Nutella
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons vegetable oil

Combine all ingredients in a small bowl, mixing well. Spoon into 2 lightly greased or sprayed mugs. This cake will double in size when baked.

Cook on high in microwave oven for 1 minute, then add additional time if needed, checking every 20 seconds.

  8. You don't like Nutella? Wow, I think you are the first person I have ever heard say that:-) But since you made an awesome looking quick cake with it, I'll let it slide. I think I need to go get another jar of the good stuff just so I can try this!!!!

  9. I nanny in the summers and the kids and I are always looking for new things to try. Over the weekend I picked up the ingredients and we made them today. Colin doesn't like Nutella and wouldn't try it, but his two sisters absolutely *loved* it!

  10. It's okay, I'm not a big fan of Nutella, either! Mostly that's because I'm not a big fan of chocolate, either (crazy, I know, what am I even SAYING?!) However, I am human still (thankfully) and get intense chocolate cravings sometimes, so I definitely think I'll need this cake for one of those hankerings!

  11. WONDERFUL !!! I used butter instead of oil,and Southern Pecan crfeamer instead of milk and nutella. I'm sure the original works just as good but it's what I had. :o)

  13. Just made this and it turned out so good! I didn't have self-rising flour, so I did 4 Tbsp flour + 1/2 tsp baking powder and it worked perfect! I microwaved for 1 minute and did not need additional time. Thanks for posting the recipe!
