Butter Wafers

I love being on Facebook.

The foodie community is so wonderful.

They share everything, recipes, hugs, prayers...

A hello.

I have never met such a supportive group. And I've never met most of the people who share and visit with me every day but I love you all!

About a month ago Brazilian Recipes & other delectable delights from around the world posted about 50 different recipes, mostly cupcake combinations. I was drooling on the page I tell you.

This cookie stood out. Probably the delicate chocolate drizzled over the cookie...

Or maybe that it only has 6 ingredients?

It made it to my "must make" list.

And so I finally made them.

These cookies are so stupid easy. But they look and taste like they came from a gourmet cookie shop.

Butter Wafers
makes 3 dozen

1 stick butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup flour
dash of salt
1/4 cup finely chopped pecans-optional

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla, blend until well combined. Add flour and salt, Blend again. Add pecans if using.

Simple right, It just gets easier. Drop by small teaspoons onto parchment lined baking sheet, 3 inches apart.

Small little dollops. And make sure they are 3 inches apart, these suckers spread like crazy.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 8-10 minutes, just until edges are golden. Remove from oven.
Let cool on baking sheet at least 10 minutes.

You want them completely set before removing them to a cooling rack to completely cool. If you remove them too soon, they will bunch up, these are really thin.

When cooled, drizzle with chocolate.

I used the candy bark to do these, but these are so good, I should have used the Godiva.

I've made 1 batch just "plain" and 2 with the pecans. I'm also thinking changing up the vanilla for lemon flavoring wit a lemon drizzle...

So many possibilities from one simple recipe!

I've linked these up at  Crazy for CrustSecret Recipe Club
